Do I Have to Pay Reconnection Again for Spectrum Address Change
Like most internet companies, Spectrum increases your cablevision bill anywhere from 18–60% after the first year of service.
Every bit a result, long-term Spectrum customers ofttimes pay upwards of $168 for internet and Goggle box each calendar month, unable to access the "introductory" pricing advertised for new customers.
This can exist frustrating, especially when you're too paying activation fees, WiFi fees and sports fees on peak of information technology.
Keep in listen, this only applies to existing customers. Outset-time Spectrum customers can merely sign up for the electric current $44.99 disbelieve price here:
If you came here looking for an "existing customer bargain," the good news is that they do exist… they are just difficult to access.
Aside from discounts, there are several means to lower your beak — including services that will simply practice it for y'all. Allow's become into it:

- Switch to a dissimilar internet provider

Don't have a free afternoon to spend on the telephone? Consider a bill reduction app or service. You just upload a bill and they take it from at that place, negotiating downwards the neb on your behalf in exchange for a percent of the savings.
Every bit a old call eye visitor worker myself, I know a thing or two nigh navigating Spectrum's signup procedure and finding hidden deals. Information technology takes time, only they do exist — even in 2022.
Before nosotros start, be aware that this is a fourth dimension-consuming procedure. It'due south not guaranteed to work. In fact, about 3/4 of the mail I get about this postal service is people reporting that they couldn't get a bargain, fifty-fifty subsequently several calls.
Just if you lot've got some free fourth dimension today and yous want to save $120 or more over the next year — keep reading.
Here are some quick fixes to become your started:
Get practiced help reducing your bill
Most methods of lowering your Spectrum pecker volition require at least one full afternoon of effort. Polling of our readers shows an average of 1.5 hours of await fourth dimension per call.
If you want results faster, you lot can Upload your pecker to BillShark, and they'll negotiate a lower rate with Spectrum for you. (Estimated annual savings: $240+)
I've written up Stride-past-step instructions below to make it simple.
Upload your nib
Switch to FuboTV for sports and live Idiot box
If you want to cut the cord from Spectrum Idiot box, the best replacement that ticks all the same boxes for sports access and live programming is FuboTV. They are currently offer a gratis trial so Spectrum customers tin sample the service. Information technology'southward similar to Netflix, but with a focus on sports and live TV and pricing starting at $33–60 per calendar month.

Switch to a cheaper Spectrum alternative
Use our search tool or phone call our partner BundleYourHome at (833) 320-2807 for live help choosing the cheapest Spectrum alternative. Their agents can compare options at your address and advise which is all-time for your needs.
Spectrum alternatives like AT&T and Earthlink expanded rapidly in the past year, cheers to increased demand for fast home internet during Covid-19.
As a result, you lot might exist able to cut off Spectrum and switch to a faster, cheaper net or Tv provider.
Prerequisite: Empathise How Spectrum Works
Before we start, yous demand some basic information well-nigh how Spectrum operates.
Like most cable companies, Spectrum uses a tactic chosen "introductory pricing" to sell internet service. This ways that the price they advertise is not the actual toll of service — it's a promotional rate for the first 12 months or and then.
Unfortunately, this fact is ofttimes downplayed when customers sign up. In fact, if yous enquire a Spectrum agent what the last cost is, they will invariably say: "the standard rate at the fourth dimension your promotion expires."
No thing how you ask, they volition be hesitant to reveal the standard rate — or the fact that the "standard rate" can change at any fourth dimension. This is why then many customers are surprised when their pecker suddenly jumps 40%.
The terminal pricing somewhen shows up on bills, so I've been able to track downwardly the electric current rates. The plans are regional, generally divided between their "upgrade" service areas (cities like Los Angeles and the standard Spectrum service area (mostly suburbs). The pricing is the same for each of the iii tiers of service; the only difference is the internet speed. While this site is focused on California, Spectrum pricing is more or less the aforementioned nationally:
Plan Proper noun | Speed Down/Up | Promo Cost | Standard Charge per unit |
---|---|---|---|
Spectrum Cyberspace | 100/x Mbps | $49.99/mo | $69.99 |
Spectrum Net Ultra | 400/20 Mbps | $69.99/mo | $94.99 |
Spectrum Internet GIG | 940/35 Mbps | $109.99/mo | $129.99 |
As you can see, you're looking at anywhere from 10–80% price hikes, depending on the promotion you signed up on (these change a few times a year).
This is the chief reason that customer bills go up over time — although there are also instances where Spectrum's "current charge per unit" volition go up for your subscription tier, or where extra fees or services might be added to your bill due to clerical errors or changing policies at Spectrum.
In club to get your bill back down, you lot'll need to remove services, reduce equipment costs, call to negotiate the charge per unit down, and/or re-qualify for a promotional rate. I'll share some details specific to Spectrum in this commodity, but similar tactics piece of work well with other cablevision companies like Cox and Xfinity.
You may as well desire to try and authorize for a subsidized plan, although those plans have much slower speeds and no Boob tube options.
Permit's get started:
Call and Negotiate a Lower Rate
As covered above, Spectrum bills e'er go up after the first 12 months, so creep up from there as regional cost changes and fees get tacked on over fourth dimension.
The solution: telephone call Spectrum and negotiate a lower charge per unit.
Customers who were with Time Warner Cable before Spectrum bought them out in 2022 will remember this as a tried-and-true method for reducing costs. Time Warner was very generous with promotional rates, to the indicate that practically every customer had a unique cost for their account thanks to haggling with the TMC call center.
Spectrum has cleaned that upwardly, past enforcing minimum prices and refusing to grant "new customer" pricing for existing customers.
However, yous can withal reduce the charge per unit past calling, and not but by shaving off TV packages. Here'southward a pace-by-pace walkthrough of how to lower your Spectrum nib:
Footstep one: Prepare your business relationship information
Earlier you call, have a bill handy then you can give them your account number and whatsoever other necessary data to identify the account.
Speaking of accounts, make sure you've paid your nigh recent pecker. They won't reduce the price for you if yous don't take an account in good standing.
Too ensure that you have information on competing offers for internet service in your neighborhood — peculiarly if it'southward a fiber service like AT&T Cobweb, which Spectrum has more than incentive to undercut on pricing. These can be helpful for convincing Spectrum that you lot mean business organisation about canceling.
Before the call, collect:
- Re-create of about recent Spectrum bill (paid to date)
- Example number for any past disputes you lot've had with Spectrum
- Cost and speed for competing net/cable offers in your neighborhood.
- The promo charge per unit you signed up for (yous'll be asking them to match this).
Step 2: Call Spectrum customer service at (855) 707-7328
When you call Spectrum, your goal is to:
- Convince them that you're going to abolish if they don't give you a improve rate.
- Navigate their call heart correctly and so yous observe an amanuensis who can grant price reductions.
- Be polite to them personally, merely express frustration about Spectrum the visitor.
- Be exceedingly polite. If you worked in a call center, who would you lot give promos to: rude customers, or friendly ones? Nice guys finish kickoff in this process.
Finding the correct amanuensis is easier said than washed.
When you outset call, you'll be given prompts to route your call to the right department. You tin can either go straight to the cancellation department, or go to general customer service.
I recommend that you start with client service, considering they're more likely to transfer you to an agent with pricing power than if you go directly to cancellation.
This part is very important: you need to talk to the client service or billing agent for at least five minutes earlier they transfer y'all.
This ensures that they send you to "retentivity," rather than simply giving you counterfoil information on the spot.
Retentivity is where you lot want to be ultimately, because these agents take the best promotional offers and the nigh power to lower customer pricing. Notwithstanding, sometimes the customer service agent tin grant your request on the spot — information technology depends on the current promotions, and where you lot call from.
Pace three: Explain your request to Spectrum customer service
Quick Tip
Call in the morning time if possible — at the end of the day, call center agents are likely to be exhausted by a long day of aroused customers. They may besides be given a express amount of coupons per agent to placate customers, similar to how grocery store employees are oftentimes allowed to discount a sure amount of produce each 24-hour interval to keep customers happy.
Start by asking how their twenty-four hour period is going and being friendly. So, start in with the issue:
I'grand calling because I'd like to get some help with my neb – my price recently went up quite a fleck, and it'southward more than than I can afford. I've been a customer of Spectrum for a long time, and it's frustrating to see that my neighbors get the same service for a much lower rate. Can you tell me nigh your current promotions, or any other means that I can reduce the bill?
At this point, their sales flow should require them to try to sell you lot a bigger Telly package, Spectrum mobile, or even domicile phone service. Hear them out but politely decline to add additional services or increase your internet speed.
Thanks for that, information technology's helpful to know all the options. Role of the reason I'm calling is considering another internet provider is offer me a new client rate to switch to them. That said, I've been happy with Spectrum and as you can see I've been paying my nib on time for a long time now. Is there a disbelieve you could attach to my net cost to recover the introductory toll I was paying? I'd exist happy to sign up for automated billing if at that place's a bonus for that.
At this point, they will practise one of two things:
- Tell y'all there's zero they tin can practise.
- Offering to revert your business relationship to "intermediate pricing," which is currently around $54.99/month for the base internet programme.
For the base 200 Mbps net-but plan, information technology'due south mutual to be able to debate information technology downwards to effectually $55. The $54.99 price point is an "intermediate" price for entry level plan in some areas.
This is likely to be the all-time discount you'll get on an net-but plan, and so I recommend yous go ahead and accept it if they offer it.
Footstep 4: Escalate to a manager to cheque for promo offers
If they tin't reduce it, ask to speak to a managing director, and politely repeat the above script.
Remember, you are frustrated at Spectrum — not the call center employees.
For the managing director, endeavor expressing frustration most the "bait and switch," and say that you weren't made aware of the standard rate when you signed upwards. This may trigger them to offer a discount, if they believe you are going to submit an FCC complaint.
Step 5: Escalate to retention by requesting to cancel service
If the manager all the same tin't help you, it's fourth dimension to tell them you desire to abolish service.
Telling them you lot desire to abolish — after spending five or more minutes on the phone — should trigger the requirements for transfer to the retention section.
They'll transfer you to a new agent, who ostensibly is going to help cancel your service. However, this agent has access to "retention offers," and will make one concluding attempt to convince you to bundle more services instead of canceling.
Once once again, you need to politely pass up, and brand i concluding request:
I understand the introductory rate is for new customers, only if I could at least get closer to it, I'd happily but stay with Spectrum instead of going through all this trouble to switch. Do y'all have whatever kind of coupon or promotion you tin adhere to my account?
This is where it comes down to luck. Some agents, on some days, will have the ability to attach a disbelieve. Others will not. In either case, the default is for them to simply permit yous to cancel.
If you have the nerves, or are truly willing to switch to a competing provider, get alee and follow the rest of the cancelation process. In some cases, they will "find" a promotion in their script the terminal 2d before clicking abolish — similar to how Adobe Photoshop offers you 3 free months, but only if you go through 4 of the v steps required to cancel.
Step 6: Hang upward and endeavour once again subsequently if no discounts are offered
Since promotions and coupons seem to come and go in the Spectrum call center, you'll likely need to echo this charade a couple times to become a outcome.
If you accept no luck with the script above, effort calling in the next solar day, or the next week.
Send your bill to a negotiation service
If 3+ hours of your time and frustration on the telephone is worth more than than $10–40 per month in savings, I recommend uploading your bill to a negotiation service like BillShark, who can handle the calls for yous.
Mobile apps like Truebill are also able to negotiate your rate, and charge equivalent rates based on a percentage of what they salvage you. Truebill also offers bill monitoring and a variety of other services, by and large free.
For pecker negotiation, Billshark and Truebill both charge a 40% commission off the savings. However, since they know the process for negotiating well, they get a college overall savings in most cases. It's especially worth using them if you lot already tried and failed to get a discount yourself.
Note that this is not the choice you should take if you have $0 in your banking company business relationship, because they do charge a commission.
Truebill and Billshark are what's chosen "constitute money" startups, meaning they specialize in recovering coin for consumers who otherwise would allow it go due to inconvenience.
They can as well tackle your mobile phone bill, home security bill, and any other monthly subscription with variable pricing issues. If yous accept a lot of bills piling upwards that are too high, it's worth submitting a few all together and seeing what they can get you.
Here are the instructions for working with Billshark to reduce your Spectrum bill:
How to upload your bill for Billshark
- Become the nearly recent copy of your Spectrum bill, either a paper copy or a PDF downloaded from your Spectrum online business relationship.
- You tin can download a PDF copy of your Spectrum bill by logging into your account at Spectrum.net and selecting BILLING, then scrolling downward to PREVIOUS STATEMENTS (seem screenshot below).
One time you accept a copy of your bill, you tin upload information technology to Billshark and they'll start calling Spectrum on your behalf to negotiate the cost downwards:
- Get to the Billshark upload folio and select "Charter Spectrum" and "Internet."
- Yous'll exist prompted to create a Billshark business relationship by entering your proper noun, email, and creating a countersign.
- Adjacent, you'll be prompted to upload your nib. You lot can apply the nearly recent PDF copy from your online account, or simply ship a smartphone snapshot of you paper bill.
- They inquire for a Pivot, but you can leave it blank — Spectrum does not require pivot numbers for internet and TV accounts.
- Click "submit" and Billshark will contact yous one time they've secured a discount for y'all.
They ask for seven days so they can conduct multiple calls, but nigh readers hither report that it's done within two days.
Remove Unnecessary Services
The easiest way to reduce your Spectrum neb is to "cut the cord" and remove extra services like cable Telly packages and home telephone service.
Take a look at your pecker and you should see line items for each extra service on top of internet, plus fees and equipment.
Between the DVR, receivers, and sports fees, the cost of Spectrum TV adds up really fast. Some customers pay more than $200/month for what amounts to a handful of premium channels. In this day and historic period, that's crazy. (Spectrum Sports packages start at $84.98 including the Sports Pack add-on, and go all the way upward to $188+ before fees and the incrimental price of internet service in the bundle!)
Looking for a Spectrum Television alternative?
If you desire to cut the cord from Spectrum TV, the best replacement that ticks all the same boxes for sports admission and live programming is FuboTV. They are currently offering a free trial so Spectrum customers tin sample the service. It's similar to Netflix, but with a focus on sports and live Tv set and pricing starting at $33–lx per calendar month.
FuboTV Free Trial
The chief reason people stay with Spectrum is the sports packages. However, getting sports over the internet is easier than ever. In addition to league passes and direct subscriptions, there are a variety of streamings services dedicated to live Telly and sports, with FuboTV being the pinnacle player in 2022.
As for premium channels like Starz, simply Google "streaming" and the name of the channels you really scout. Chances are yous can get them "over the top" via a direct subscription and drop your Tv set costs dramatically.
Pro Tip: Don't change your package inside the first twelve months, it causes Spectrum to void your promotional rate, so you are no longer considered to be a new customer eligible for sign-upwardly discounts.
Also take a await at Roku, Firestick, and other streaming platforms. These sometimes accept special deals and get in really easy to view sports on your widescreen Idiot box, regardless of who you lot are buying the sports content from.
Reduce Equipment Fees
One of the biggest hidden costs on Spectrum plans is the WiFi router fee.
I've written a full guide to dealing with Spectrum's WiFi equipment fee here, but here's a quick summary:
When you sign upwardly for Spectrum, they offer you a "gratis modem." This is true… just a bit misleading.
The modem but "translates" your cyberspace connection for your dwelling devices. You need a WiFi router in order to connect via WiFi. No router, no WiFi.
The catch: the WiFi router costs money to lease from Spectrum, currently around $v per calendar month ($threescore per year) on all plans except the well-nigh expensive "GIG" plan.
And then sure, the equipment is "free" with Spectrum — but only if you don't mind only using the cyberspace from one device, plugged into the modem with an ethernet cable (like in the nineties).
…Obviously, this is a no-go for virtually everyone.
The solution is to return the leased Spectrum WiFi router yous're using, and buy your own.
Aside from increasing your net performance, using your own router will save you $60/yr on Spectrum internet. Considering that a decent modem and router volition run yous $120 or less, that'due south a savings of $180 over five years of service.
It also keeps you safe from equipment rental fee increases, which accept certainly happened earlier with big cable companies.
Salvage $60 per year by using your own router
The simplest fashion to discount your Spectrum neb is to terminate paying the $5 per month leasing fee to employ their default WiFi router.
They're actually surprisingly flexible nigh this — just purchase your own WiFi router, render the one they gave you when you signed upwardly, and it'll save yous $threescore per twelvemonth in leasing fees. As an added bonus, you'll likely get improve WiFi since the devices they provide are oft used or outdated.

Spectrum-compatible WiFi router recommendations
View this page for a full breakdown on my modem and router recommendations for Spectrum:
Best Spectrum Routers Guide
For about people, where ease of apply is the priority, I recommend the Arris Surfboard modem + WiFi router.
The Surfboard is very like shooting fish in a barrel to use — you just plug it into the cable jack in your house, telephone call Spectrum client service to tell them the MAC address written on the back, and you're done. It pays for itself after the start year in saved leasing fees. (I spent $150 on my setup, which is manner more than you demand to — but even with that, I've saved $90 over the past four years.)
If you want to save fifty-fifty more money, you lot tin hold onto the "free" Spectrum modem and buy but the WiFi router. The TP-Link AC1750 WiFi router is a expert choice for all non-gigabit plans, and is compatible with the free Spectrum modem they provide.
However, I retrieve most customers will be happier just owning all the hardware themselves, since information technology saves you the hassle of returns or disputes with Spectrum when you movement or change service.
If you're more than of a "techie," I recommend that y'all spend more and get the modem and WiFi router as seperate devices, to keep the setup modular and brand it like shooting fish in a barrel to add switches, smart home doo-dads, etc. Spectrum maintains a folio of modems that they are compatible with.
Larger homes tin besides consider mesh WiFi setups like Eero or Google Nest. These basically come up with extendors so the WiFi is distributed more evenly in your dwelling house, without the need to hard-wire a bunch of access points. it's non as skillful as hard-wiring, merely if you're renting, that's out of the question anyway.
Authorize as a new client
Quick Tip
If y'all cancel your Spectrum service for xxx days or more than, you should be able to sign up again for a new customer rate with the same business relationship login, address, name, and phone number. I've only done this one time personally, I'm not sure how many times information technology tin exist repeated before they carp to hunt you about it.
If all of the above fails you, another way to get the new customer rate is to take advantage of loopholes in the Spectrum corporate process that allow you to become "a new client" again.
At that place are iv means to do this:
ane. Sign up under a spouse or roommates proper name.
This is the simplest approach, and is sometimes even recommended by Spectrum agents if yous get to one of their store locations.
All you have to do is cancel service, and then have your spouse/roommate telephone call and sign upward under their proper noun, phone number, and email.
If yous lease Spectrum's modem/router, you lot'll demand to render this first. If you use your own, you'll only need to human activity similar information technology was "left by previous tenant" when you lot call to give the MAC address on the dorsum of the modem (this is how they actuate new service if you have your own modem).
2. Sign up with a new phone number and electronic mail accost through a reseller.
Spectrum may observe you have the same proper noun if you effort to sign up with them directly at the same accost. However, if you become through one of their many "authorized resellers," y'all'll get the same promo rate every bit signing up with Spectrum direct — but it'll exist harder for them to cancel the order or observe that you're an existing customer.
The catch is that you must use a new telephone number and email address. If you don't have a family member or friend who tin can help you out with the phone, a service like MySudo can give yous a free virtual telephone number.
Getting a second email is easy — just make a new business relationship with Google, Yahoo, or the email provider of your choice.
When you're gear up, just google "Spectrum authorized reseller" and choice one. You'll recognize them because at that place will be text maxim "authorize reseller" under the Spectrum logo on their web pages. All y'all have to do is abolish your existing service, then telephone call the reseller.
iii. Claim business relationship problems in a Spectrum store.
If you lot're having issues with any of the above, or take already exhausted them past claiming a promo charge per unit for many years in a row, another method that works is to create issues with your online account that force them to create a new ane for you lot.
Again, resellers are a good style to do this. If y'all submit multiple orders through resellers under your existing name and e-mail, it will probable cause an issue with your business relationship. Go ahead and submit multiple password reset requests too for good measure.
Then, go into the Spectrum store and claim that you had been trying to switch service, but inverse your mind and want to go dorsum to Spectrum. The problem is that your account has locked you out at present, and the reset isn't in your spam binder.
After this complicated story, ask the agent in the store if they can create a new account tied to your phone number instead of your email. I've personally been able to unlock a new business relationship and actress 12 months of promotional rate service past using this trick. (Your mileage may vary, it depends on the mood of the store employee.)
4. Cancel and look 30 days.
Finally, an inconvenient method of getting a new customer rate is to abolish for thirty days. Subsequently that, they consider y'all a new customer and y'all tin can sign up for the promo rate in a Spectrum shop or via phone.
If you tin survive on a hotspot or mobile tethering for a month, this is probably the simplest method.
Switch to a different net provider
Possibly the simplest way to get a "new customer charge per unit" for internet is to sign up every bit a new customer... with some other cyberspace provider entirely.
This doesn't necessarily mean switching internet service. For example, if you subscribe to Spectrum Television receiver, y'all can switch to a cheaper TV provider like Dish or FuboTV.
Enter an address here to start:
The bad news here is that, for about one-half of the folks in Spectrum's coverage expanse, there are no other options. Spectrum has a de-facto monopoly in much of the US, thanks to long-standing city franchise agreements.
The good news is that AT&T, Ting, Ziply Cobweb, and a bunch of other companies have really expanded cobweb internet coverage pretty dramatically in the past couple years. So, if information technology's been a while since you last checked, now is a good fourth dimension to do so.
The almost mutual Spectrum alternative is AT&T Fiber (unless y'all're in New York, in which case Verizon Fios is more mutual).
Switching providers takes about 30 minutes, but is relatively straightforward:
- Confirm options: Cheque what alternatives are available at in your area using our internet provider search tool above, or check for other options by calling our partner BundleMyHome at (833) 320–2807. They'll run your address to see what alternatives to Spectrum are available at your edifice, and nowadays you the cheapest prices.
- Schedule install: Depending on the provider, you can schedule an install directly on the phone or online. Cull an install 24-hour interval in the calendar week before your current calendar month with Spectrum ends. (y'all tin can check the billing date on your pecker or Spectrum.net account.)
- Cancel Spectrum: Await until you lot've confirmed the new service install, then become ahead and schedule a Spectrum cancellation. (Make sure the counterfoil date is after the new provider's install, but before they auto-bill you for the next month. Spectrum doesn't prorate bills.)
- Exam information technology out: AT&T and nearly other Spectrum alternatives have a 30-day guarantee and no contract requirements. So, if the service doesn't alive up to their promise, you lot tin sign upwardly for Spectrum again every bit a "new customer" later on 30 days.
Authorize for a low-income subsidy
Finally, Spectrum has low-income plan options. I don't recommend these because they have dramatically reduced speeds compared to their normal service.
Here are the basic plan details for their subsidy plan for verified low-income households:
Plan Name | Speed Down/Up | Monthly Price | WiFi Fee |
---|---|---|---|
Spectrum Internet Assist | 30/four Mbps | $17.99/mo | $5/mo |
How to Qualify for Spectrum'due south Depression-Income Plan
Y'all are supposed to just be able to get Spectrum "Internet Assist" plans if you already participate in one of the following public assistance programs:
- National School Lunch Program
- Community Eligibility Provision of the NSLP
- Supplemental Security Income (must be 65+)
However, at that place is a bit of a loophole for qualifying that still works for some locations in 2020. In 2016, Spectrum merged with Fourth dimension Warner Cablevision and Brighthouse Networks, two other large cablevision providers in the United states. This merger was a fleck controversial at the time, every bit watchdogs viewed it every bit anti-competative for the broadband market.
As a upshot, Spectrum agreed to a multifariousness of terms in order to get the merger approved past the FCC: one
- Provide information-cap-free service.
- Aggrandize high-speed broadband to 2 One thousand thousand new locations.
- Provide subsidized plans to qualifying households.
Because the qualification is tied to the user address rather than the user'due south name or business relationship, hereafter residents of the same building can often call and sign up for the Help program… fifty-fifty if they have a high income, or don't participate in the required programs.
To check if this applies to your location, you can just telephone call Spectrum direct and ask if your accost still qualifies for the Assist plan. Information technology's not likely, but some readers have reported this still happening in 2020. If it works, yous get decent 30 Mbps internet for just $17.99/calendar month. However, since three years have passed since the merger terms, this price is no longer protected past the strict limits that originally applied.

Here are current success stories shared by our readers:
Success! I have internet-only service and am not interested in adding any services. My 12-month intro promo expired and cost raised $25 per month, so I messaged on Spectrum's chat asking for a price decrease. They refused.
I establish this page and read the info, and I called client service to inquire to become dorsum to the original pricing. She said at that place was zero they could exercise. I said that I am not specially tied to Spectrum and noticed that Cincinnati Bell has a 2-twelvemonth promo, faster cyberspace speed, for the same cost then I'm considering that. I asked if they would consider price matching. She transferred me to a specialist. He chatted with me virtually working from home, etc. I stayed friendly and did not rush him.
He tried to sell me on boosted phone and cable fees, I let him talk me through all of it simply politely declined. He looked into it and was able to offer some other 12-calendar month promo at the original price. 25 minutes full on the phone!
Kimberly, September 2021
Thank you for the tips. Information technology took over an hour on the telephone but they gave us a promotion and knocked $l off our monthly bill. My wife attributes information technology to her screaming "cut the cable" from the living room while the rep and I were talking ;)
Glenn Thou., July 2021
Dude so this was an amazing page to discover, I read through to what pertained to me and it absolutely worked. I talked to a man when I first chosen that was pretty much like 'yyeeaahh nothing I can do, ya wanna cancel?' And I'm similar whatsoever dude, $80 dollars a month for internet? You know that'south outta control.
And then I literally waited 45 minutes to speak to the adjacent cancellation person, and just read some stuff on this page and fabricated a mental notation of some central things. Such every bit, it'south non the agent, it'due south the company. I also actually like spectrums internet and don't really desire to kickoff the hassle of switching, seriously.
So the lady hooked me up with some practiced deals, all because we had a laugh in the commencement of our conversation virtually commercials and how stupid they are. She told me about this pandemic program that I practical for and got canonical in similar 10 minutes. Then all in all, I went from paying $80 a calendar month for WiFi to $fifteen bucks. Bro, you saved me cheers!!
Ashley Chiliad., June 2021
After beingness denied by four agents and spending two+ hour on the phone, persistence finally paid off. I even went to the Spectrum shop and got turned away. These agents are well trained, know exactly what to say to get y'all off the phone, attempt to get y'all to upgrade and are firm in proverb no.
I finally got a nice gentlemen in the retention section, I didn't even take to say much and he just offered to renew my beak at the promotional rate of $59.99/mo for another year.
I am so happy that it worked but it sucks I have to practice this once more in a twelvemonth. Don't give up, proceed trying with different reps and somewhen you'll get the unicorn rep that is willing to help. Thanks and good luck all!

Got my bill reduced in 5 minutes below what I was paying the previous month later on my bill shot upwards by 20%. Beingness patient, calm, and welcoming on the phone goes a long style. Biggest underrated tip though, phone call in the morning.

Thank you so much for this article! Extremely helpful! Gave Spectrum a call this Saturday morning at 7:fifty am and the first representative was and so kind and really really fabricated a lot of efforts to endeavor and help me but at 8:17 am she apologized several times maxim that she tried her best but the system would non allow ler brand any changes to lower my rates that increased from $64.98 to $79.98 for cyberspace but. Although they go on saying that paying $9.99 for the Spectrum Voice (that I never used) is helpful to go along the lower prices. So I gently asked if maybe talking to someone else from a unlike department could work and she transferred me to the Retention department right away.
I was on hold from 8:18am to eight:38am when a 2nd representative quickly confirmed my phone number and provider and then I knew she would offer me their mobile services which I had to kindly declined 3 times!! Then she decided to cutting to the end saying "well if yous don't bring your mobile it's gonna be a $10 off discount." And just like that by her tone I knew that was the best I could become from her so I kindly thanked her and accustomed the offer that expires in a year-again! Fourth dimension: eight:56am.
And so yeah, you demand a lot of patience and time. Not the $20 discount I expected simply $10 is improve than zilch, right!

This article was terrific! I called on a Monday night, followed your tips and ended up going from $79.99 for my internet to $59.99 for the next 12 months. I did have to hold for almost an hour in total fourth dimension betwixt all the agents merely the $240 over the next 12 months savings volition ease that hurting.
I didn't ask for the managing director, merely I did hang on to customer service for 5 minutes. They transferred me over to the memory department after I said that I couldn't pay $lxxx a calendar month and would need to cancel. I only followed the advice to stay really nice, listen to their spiel so politely pass up the upgrades all the style through. It worked great! Took a lot of patience though because the whole process lasted about an hour due to long wait times. But like I said before, I called on Mon dark. Still worked.

I called and went right to "Remove services" department and they gave a $20 credit for net only for next 12 months. Was very easy! General customer service department did not offer that.

I only used my own adaptation of these scripts and information technology worked out. Give thanks you, Lord! Ultimately, they lowered my nib (for simply cyberspace, nothing extra) from $79.99 to $59.99 per month.
Originally I spoke to a customer service rep who tried to get me to packet internet with new services to "salve me money," but all of her options increased my nib and she couldn't practise anything to actually lower it. I politely declined and asked for a supervisor. She transferred me. I explained my state of affairs to the supervisor (i.due east. that I enjoyed having Spectrum but couldn't afford the $15/calendar month increase) and she said she couldn't do anything for me. I then told her I understood and asked her if she could help me abolish my account with them. This was a gamble, merely I had already decided I was truly going to abolish if they didn't offer a disbelieve, then I said it with conviction and confidence. She said she couldn't help me cancel but she could transfer me to someone who could. That got me to the retention section. The person I spoke to tried to get me to add speed/services in order to "requite me options" and I heard him out, but politely declined all the extras. We eventually settled on the same internet speed, with no service additions for a "promotional price" of $59.99/month for 12 months.
My neb has steadily increased from the new customer price of $49.99 to $79.99 over 2 years. That seems almost criminal to charge me $30/month More for the same services when I've been a loyal, pay-on-time customer for years. Especially at present, during the hard times with COVID-19 lay offs/remote learning.
Anyways, I'm happy for their retention department and I'm happy about the $20/month savings I'll be getting. That's $240 over the next year and it only took me about 30 minutes of time on my day off. Thanks for this article - information technology actually helped!

Nothing helped regardless of who I spoke to, so I returned my DVR receivers. If enough individuals would cancel service Spectrum they would reduce prices. I just saw a promotion (Jan 2021) where Spectrum would pay up to $500.00 to buy out a contract and then new customers could switch. By turning in my cable receivers for 30 days I now authorize for new customer rates. Not only past doing this Spectrum will lose ane month of income, simply now they are giving me the reduced rate that they originally refused. Of course I take to do this every yr. If you choose to plow in your receivers, I recommend giving up cable in December. Cable series take a hiatus due to Christmas programs and ordinarily doesn't start support until late January. Whatever you decide, good luck!

I followed this guide, but so added my own spin on it, mentioned some other services and stuff I've cancelled recently. Talked to a full general CS rep first, no dice, asked for manager, no dice, she transferred me to retention department after I mentioned considering switching to AT&T. And so 20 minute queue fourth dimension to become transferred to that department. And just a few minutes later of talking she said she'd put me back on my $59.99 rate (just increased to $74.99). Then a savings of $180 a year for 40 minutes of my fourth dimension.
Jason CK., Jan 2021
Just used your advice to lower my internet bill $20! I'll be getting another yr of a promo rate - thanks!
Becca K., January 2021
This is amazing, merely WOW. I am calling today wirh my new-plant knowledge and confidence! December 2022 I got Spectrum internet at my embankment house. I went at that place 2 times before Covid hitting and have not been at that place since February.
Susi F., Jan 2021
Just got mine lowered from $74.99 to $59.99 using this script. Thanks!

Tried to become my mothers Spectrum bill down from $131.00 to a reasonable sum due to her very low income. She is 93 & living on $700 a month. Almost they would exercise is a lousy 20.00 a calendar month. Pathetic. Even Directv will offer new customer packages for a limited fourth dimension to Existing 93 yr erstwhile customers. Poor customer service.
Anonymous., Dec 2020
You can't downgrade from normal internet to net assist you'd have to disconnect for 30 days. Yet there is a lower speed option for the aforementioned price that you tin can downgrade to called everyday depression price or elp.

Wanted to share my feel trying the negotiation route. I chosen their direct line (866.892.0019) and the first rep said "hell no." So I asked for a manager like you recommended. The manager said the aforementioned affair. So, I said fine, let's cancel my service. Bam: retention transfer. The lady in retentiveness said no trouble at all, we can accommodate the pecker back to $50. (I was paying close to $70!!!) She was super nice and I'll definitely do the aforementioned side by side year. Thanks for the tips!
Dan W., 2020
Hey, read your commodity v times earlier making my call. Thank you for all the tips... I got my bill for TV/cable and net downward to $99.55, it actually simply took one call. I was paying $172 before. They put me on a plan that but has my favorite channels and some local stuff I wanted.
Jimmy A., 2020
I didn't expect much calling simply the agent actually helped me get a $thirty bargain for internet and phone without actress costs on top. They said if you lot can prove SSI it's not problem. I was calling for my mom. She'south using Netflix and 20mb cyberspace at present and very happy to save the $60 per month she was paying!
John R., 2020
So, we're snowbirds and obviously this is a "pain in the b**" for cyberspace service. I called to mutter and but got the regular schpeel about our promo price existence out of date. They charge us $15 per month for seasonal agree which I call back is crazy, simply any. Comcast at our other domicile is even worse. Finally got through to retention after ii calls this morning and they gave us a $65.99 price (was $69.99 before). Not sure if that's worth the time simply wanted to share our feel.
